What's included

Hands-on work, done on the spot.

Every Care Home includes real work — not just a clipboard. Here's what your pro handles, all in your base price.

Hearth is not a licensed contractor. Our pros perform minor work that does not require a California contractor license, and we refer all licensed trade work to licensed professionals.

Two grab bars put where the resident actually reaches for them — one at the tub/shower entry, one beside the toilet — 1.25–1.5in diameter, mounted 33–36in above the floor with 1.5in wall clearance, anchored into wall studs or into manufacturer-rated solid-wall anchors installed per the anchor manufacturer instructions. Never a drywall anchor. We hang our full weight on each bar before we call it done and photograph the result. We do not certify a load rating; where a wall will not take a stud-anchored bar we stop and refer you to a licensed contractor.
Non-slip treads bonded into the tub/shower floor, plus one rubber-backed mat outside the tub
Loose rugs cleared from walking paths and rolled/stored — gripper pads fitted under up to 2 rugs the resident wants to keep
One existing stair or hallway handrail pull-tested and re-anchored into framing
Loose doorway thresholds, transition strips and lifting carpet edges re-secured
Auto-sensing nightlights lighting the full bed-to-bathroom path, plus one at the top and bottom of a staircase where an outlet exists (up to 5)
Hot water tested at the tub tap and the water heater dial set to 120°F
Everyday kitchen items moved to between hip and shoulder height, so nothing used daily needs a step stool or a floor-level reach
Every smoke and CO alarm tested, dated, and coverage confirmed on every floor and outside each bedroom — batteries replaced in up to 2 alarms
Bathroom emergency-release key located or supplied, labelled, and taped above the door casing, and shown to the family
Lamp, phone, and charger cords along every walking path re-routed and secured flat — the tripping hazard nobody notices until it matters
